A free day in Paihia

We wanted to rent a kayak – but the rental was closed. So instead, we enjoyed a round of swimming.
Thereafter we walked along the costal road to Waitangi .
We visited the Ground where the Treaty of Waitangi was first signed, on 6 February 1840.  This Treaty is the founding document of New Zealand. It takes its name from the place in the Bay of Islands where it was signed.
